‘morning!
Starting from today I’ll write my posts in English!
My today’s thinking over is about job.
Does the perfect job exist?
I cannot really answer to that question…
I think that nobody is totally satisfied with their job, I often think to “do the job you like and you’ll never work a day in your life” and it is really like that!
If someone would ask me which is my ideal job I will reply with no hesitation “the interpreter”… you can touch different cultures, people, places…. It is the only one job that would suit me right, perfect to my need for knowledge, my love for travelling… But we should be pragmatic, it is needed to study so much to become an interpreter, in a professional way I mean, I can speak English, but I want to have my own role in society and this year I have given up the master class studies in conference interpreting, that was my dream!
I do know nothing about my future, but at the moment I can see anything good!
Years ago, I worked in the legal field as a paralegal while at the same time I was interpreting at church. Later I met the wonderful lady who actually held this position at the time and aspired to do the same thing. I decided to enroll in an Interpreter Educational Program at a local university to become a professional interpreter and put my legal skills to good use. However, after a little exposure and training, I realized I was far from ready to work in this specialized field. I went on to graduate school to get my master’s in a deaf related field and worked in the counseling field in several capacities. I never gave up on my first loves of the law and interpreting and later decided to apply for this position.
RispondiEliminaI think you were strong in your purpose!
RispondiEliminaand you had good luck and the real abilities to become an Interpreter of course.
What I lack is.... money to apply to some master programm. In my town I have never found something that can suit me.
I have found something in Rome... but it was so expensive to me, because to the cost of the master degree I would have added the cost of staying, think about it 2 Saturdays per month in Rome starting from January until July. This means I would have rent a room for four days per month, in a hotel or in a B&B... and in Rome the prices start from 45€ the cheaper.... I do not want luxury, I would have made sacrifices of course... but my wage is too low and I can't afford that! So I have given up!
I am not happy about that.. but I have no choice. At the moment I can't. Maybe one day I could... that's unfair.. but I can do nothing.
